The perfect Dingle Ireland Bed and Breakfast
If you are headed to Dingle on the west coast of Ireland and are looking for top notch accommodations, look no further than the Dingle Ireland bed and breakfast, Castlewood House. Named as Best Budget Hotel in Ireland (2018) and 3rd Best Bargain Hotel In the World (2018) according to Trip Advisor, Castlewood truly lives up to it’s accolades.

Since opening in 2005, this Dingle Ireland bed and breakfast has built quite the reputation. This boutique hotel may not be large scale, but the service and attention to detail certainly are!

Let’s start with our arrival
We arrived at around 6 pm on our fifth day in Ireland for a two nights stay in Dingle. Being November, it was dark by the time we arrived at Castlewood. Walking into the foyer, we felt like we were walking into a house from another time. Antiques and artwork fill the space. We were greeted by Brian (he along with his wife Helen, are the owners), who welcomed us with a map of Dingle and suggestions for an informal dinner as we were pretty hungry by this time. Along with dining suggestions, we asked where to go for traditional Irish music. He suggested we check out John Benny’s pub which was just about a 10 minute walk, plus he said they have great food too.
Once checked in and Brian helping us with our luggage to our room upstairs, we had a quick rest in our magnificent room.
Wow!!! Check out this room!
We were definitely wowed with our room from the second Brian opened up the door for us. Two twin beds that looked so cozy we almost didn’t want to leave. The room was decorated to make you feel like you were in the lap of luxury. It was cozy and welcoming. Just what a weary traveler wants after 4 hours on the narrow winding roads of Ireland. The bathroom had a whirlpool tub and separate shower which is standard in all Castlewood’s rooms. Like most rooms here, ours had an unobstructed view of Dingle Bay from a beautiful window. Two comfy chairs and a table sat in front of the window and Renee was already dreaming about having her morning coffee while taking in that view.

After we settled in we decided to take Brian up on his suggestion to go to John Benny’s. More about that in an upcoming post. For now, let’s just say this was a fabulous suggestion!
But the best thing about Castlewood House is…
The BREAKFAST!! If we thought that our accommodations at Castlewood were fabulous, it was the next morning that it was 100% proven. We awoke after a restful and comfortable nights sleep. We knew breakfast was included with our stay, but we never imagined what that breakfast included. Let me just say BEST BREAKFAST EVER! We came downstairs to tables filled with an abundance of choices. Baked items, fruit, yogurts, cereal and more. Also a menu with hot breakfast items to choose from. Had we died and gone to breakfast heaven? Certainly so. We found out later that breakfast is Brain’s specialty. This first morning I chose an omelette, which was delicious. The second morning I had to try the traditional Irish breakfast. Oh, you NEED to have this!

Other things offered at Castlewood House.
Castlewood also offers an Afternoon Tea with finger sandwiches and tasty delights made by Helen. They also offer special packages such as a Sunset Cruise on Dingle Bay, Blasket Island Walking Tours, and Adventure Break Packages. Going to Ireland for your Honeymoon? Castlewood even offers a Honeymoon package.
Unfortunately we weren’t around during afternoon tea, so I cannot write about that. I’m sure it is spectacular like everything there.
Their website is full of information about things to do in Dingle as well as a blog where you can find out more. All room rates can be found here.
My one regret was not being able to meet Helen during my stay, but I have to give a shout out to Geraldine who was so very lovely and lent me a plug in charger for my phone since my converter would not work in their outlets. She also helped with taking care of getting our laundry done during our stay.
My suggestion to those who want to make Castlewood House their home base during a stay in Dingle, is to call FAR in advance! The popularity of the hotel means that it fills up fast! As soon as we had booked our flight way back in April for this November trip, I booked our stay.
Stay at the best Dingle Ireland bed and breakfast. Let Helen and Brian take care of you on your trip to Dingle and you will not be disappointed!
Thanks for reading and please share this with your friends.
