Heads You Win by Jeffrey Archer What I’m Reading Wednesday

Waiting for the release of Heads You Win by Jeffrey Archer?

Confession: I have never read anything from Jeffrey Archer and 190 pages into this soon to be released book, I am wondering why.

Heads You Win is fantastic!!

I won an advanced copy of this book as part of a promotional campaign. When it arrived by mail I was a bit skeptical as to whether I would like it or not. It’s not my usual read. At 470 pages it’s not a fast read either.

It starts out in Communist Russia in 1968. After his Father is murdered by the KGB, Alexander and his Mother decide to escape the country.

The only way out is by container ship. The day they escape, they have a choice between 2 vessels one bound for New York, the other, London. To decide Alexander flips a coin.

What follows is a twist unlike any other novel I’ve ever read. (Which I cannot reveal, you’ll have to find out for yourself).

We follow Alexander’s life in the years to come. Alexander is smart, hard working, and destine for success.

What is sticking with me right now about this book is the subject of immigration and refugees coming into our country. What America has always stood for. Opportunity and a place where if you work hard enough, the American dream can come true. I’m not sure how this book turns out being just halfway through, but I cannot seem to get that subject out of my mind while reading it. Immigration is such a hot button topic right now.

As I mentioned, I am just halfway through but this book has me hooked like The Other Women did earlier this year. It’s creative, takes a peek into life in Communist Russia in the late 60’s and leaves you pulling for Alexander. If a book has me wanting to do nothing else but read, then it’s a winner.

So if you are looking for a great read that you cannot put down Heads You Win by Jeffrey Archer is a winner. I will definitely be checking out his other books. If you have any recommendations, please let me know in the comments!

This book will be released November 6th. You can pre-order it here.
